As if the dead weren't enough to deal with, the Mariners are now up against the Disciples of the Deep Ones, a group of drugged out fanatics who believe the tellings of H.P. Lovecraft are real.

Liv held her sleeping son in her arms, humming softly and looking down at him with a smile. Jason was happy and content, a good eater and healthy, and that's all Liv could hope for. Delivering him had been hard on her and her body was still healing. Fortunately she'd been able to breastfeed Jason so there was no risk of running out of formula, but she still gave him a bottle of formula once a day to help make sure he was getting enough nutrients.
Liv heard noise from outside. It wasn't the usual sound of jets flying overhead, but something else. People? This street was quiet, if there was someone already in the area she'd have known about it by now. Frowning, she put Jason in his baby carrier and carefully got to her feet. Liv took her shotgun from its place on the floor next to her. She double checked that it was loaded and then headed outside to investigate. Coming face to face with a group of people, Liv pointed her shotgun at the nearest person, internally panicking but not letting her face show it. "Can I help y'all." Liv said, her voice deadpan and her tone making it clear that she wanted nothing to do with these strangers. She looked at the group with suspicion. They might be friendly. But they might not. Could be safety in numbers. Or they could kill her and Jason. Reserving judgement, Liv waited for a response.

These posts are from the perspective of SGT. James P. Tremblay
"Another day another patrol" The twenty eight year old brunette said to himself as he sat in the passenger seat of his Humvee,His driver Ramerez, A younger man maybe twenty or so as long as he did his job James didn't fully care too much in the end sat beside him. Their route would take them passed the old CVS and through the Northside Historical district before heading north by route 1220 through Stonehaven before looping back to head West via Ten Mile Bridge and Wells Burnett and Eagle Mountain before back to the highway to the Air Base. A sigh leaving his lips as he checked his weapon sleep still clawed at his eyes as the early morning sun shown like a red tented lamp through the window. Clicking on his radio he brought the radio to his mouth. "Base, Bravo." he said before hearing the person on the other end. "Patrol Two Five Seven ready and waiting."
Giving Ramerez the signal to turn the engine on he waited for it to roar to life before waving his hand out the window to signal the other two Humvee's to do the same, Hearing the radio chirp to life he listened as the go ahead to commence their route came through, "Roger that Base, Bravo out." With that James clicked the radio off and snapped the receiver back to his plate carrier. "Alright guys, you know the drill we've done this a thousand times. Stay sharp, keep your eyes peeled. And keep a lookout for any survivors." In unison the soldiers in the vehicle responded with a Yes Sir followed by the radio. As the vehicle veered to pull onto route 183 east of base James watched the passing buildings, this close to base there wasn't really ever any deadheads to be seen thanks to the clean up crews every few days. Wasn't until you got a few miles out that they started showing signs of their presence. "Alright Ramerez, you know the route." He confirmed in a mild uncaring manner. Pulling ahead they neared the first checkpoint. And old CVS pharmacy one of their scouts had mentioned seeing activity around a few days prior. Pulling into the parking lot James scanned the surroundings as they came to a stop, hearing the engine cut he popped the door open before signaling for his men to follow. Weapons in hand they made their way to stand near the closest vehicle. "Alright men, standard clear, We got dead knock'em, living, hold your fire unless they shoot first." Once again the men confirmed in unison that they understood the order. "Parks, you and your men stay here and cover the entrance, the rest of you with me." James then said before pulling the charging handle of his M4.
Taking the last few steps to close the distance between them and the door leading into the building they made their way through the door, James taking the lead Ramerez along with their two passengers Franks and Pickett tactically began making their way through the main area of the building, Spreading out they cleared the isles before regrouping.
"Clear left." came Ramerez.
"Clear Right." Came Pickett.
"Clear front." came Franks.
Nodding to the men James signaled for them to regroup to begin sweeping the back of the building for any lurking Dead or otherwise. Nearing the door movement was heard from the opposite side of the door. James quietly signaled his men to hold their position before the group heard a small voice from the opposite side, a woman by the sounds of it they kept themselves composed as the door slid open and the barrel of a shotgun came to point in their direction, A Mossberg 500 by the looks of it James let his eyebrows raise in surprise that someone so frail looking could effectively handle a weapon with such a kick. Letting a soft smile form on his features as the woman looked them over James signaled for his men to lower their weapons. "Hello Ma'am, Just starting our patrol and we got word from our scouts that there was activity here so we were investigating. Everything alright? You look dead tired." James said, his voice never raising above a calm and understanding tone. "I'm james, We're from the air base close by. Anyway we can help ma'am?"
The four men were supposedly from the military. They looked legit. Sounded legit. Could be a trap. "Really." Liv said, keeping her tone flat and uninterested. She started racing to think of a question that she could ask to see if they were really from the Air Force Base, but before she could come up with something, Jason's cry pierced the air. He was awake, and he was not happy about it. "Shit." Liv muttered, glancing towards the back of the store where Jason was. She didn't want to tell the strangers about Jason until she knew if they could be trusted, didn't want to expose him to danger or make herself seem weak. Liv's gaze hardened as she looked the men over again, her need to care for her child balanced between her need to protect him.
Their uniforms were neat. That was what settled it. If they were robbers or killers they wouldn't have taken care to mend rips in their clothes and wash them. After a pause, Liv made eye contact with the group's leader, suspicion still coloring her gaze. "Look." she began. "I have a two week old back there and if I don't feed him he's gonna let everything know we're here. How about we call a truce, for, say, twenty minutes, before we all die."

Waiting to see how the woman would further react to their presence James took to watching the woman's body language, without a doubt the woman was on edge over something, but you couldn't really blame people for being like that when they lived out in the elements, especially these days. It did help that she was practically in the shadow of the base and well within the bubble around it that they kept clear for the most part. Hearing the woman's words James chuckled for an instant. "Yes ma'am, really." He then greeted as he pulled his dog tags out from resting against his chest, upon examination the woman would find his full name along with service number, "See?" he said as he held them out for her to see. "This is Pickett, Franks and Ramerez. 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, company C of the US Marine Corps Reserves. At your service." James's tone never raising above the understanding and collected tone he had before he kept his eyes on the woman as a sound of a cry from the room the woman had come from rang out.
It was then that James finally realized why the woman looked so rough, The cry from the other room confirming it he smiled. "Parks, keep your eyes and ears open, should be clear but just in case move the other group to the rear of the building." James ordered through his radio, It was true that they were still well within the safezone but some deadheads were known to slip through here and there and he wanted his men to be ready. Hearing the woman explain her predicament and asking for a truce of sorts he was more than happy to oblige her request, His men stood as statues when the sound occurred, their instincts kicking in from years of service they kept themselves sharp and ready to mount a defense if need be. "Yes Ma'am, by all means, take care of your child." The warm smile staying on his face as he kept himself vigilant. Nodding in her direction confirming that he had no problem with her request he straightened up again. Taking his helmet off he stuffed it between his arm and torso in an attempt to appear less imposing he let the smile return. "Would you like us to escort you and your kid back to base after you finish? We got a medical center you can rest up in if you'd like." He asked, "Not needin an answer right this minute ma'am, take care of your kid and think it over though alright?" He added, hoping that she wouldn't try to take on the world alone. Which he assumed she was as she was the one that confronted them and no one else when she was clearly in a weakened state.

"Hm." Was all Liv said in response to seeing the leader's dog tags. She had to admit, it did make them seem more credible. He talked about taking her and Jason back to their base, and the idea was undoubtedly tempting. Still, she wasn't sure if she could trust them. "I'll think about it," Liv said, her tone reflecting her interest in the idea. "He's back here," the mother said, heading towards the back of the store where she left her son. Liv made no indication that the soldiers should follow, and frankly she didn't care if they did.
"Hey, now" Liv said warmly, smiling down at the infant as she knelt to the ground in front of his carrier. She set her shotgun down close to her, the weapon well within reach if needed. "Aw, it's ok, Mama's here," she crooned as she picked Jason up and shifted to a cross-legged sitting position. Glancing back towards the Marines who had followed her back, she twisted away from them to preserve her modesty before unhooking her bra so Jason could feed. Once he was settled and happily nursing she covered her chest and Jason's head with a cloth so she didn't expose herself to the Marines and turned back towards them. "So. This base of yours, what's it like?" She asked.

Noting the woman's suspicions of his words James watched as she turned to tend to her child, It didn't surprise him at all that she was suspicious, Most people were generally as they couldn't bring themselves to believe that the military was still active. It was true that they were a shadow of their former selves without the support of the rest of the country but Colonel Cooper was doing what he could to bring order to the area which James was pleased to be a part of. With a nod he watched as the woman disappeared through the door leading into the back rooms of the pharmacy before briefly turning to his men. "Alright folks, Franks, head back to the trucks and radio base we may have some new guests, Pickett and Ramerez, stand guard." His orders being excicuted without question the three men set about their duties. Watching as Franks hurried through the exit to the outside world he gave Ramerez and Pickett another nod before turning to follow the woman through the door.
Placing his helmet back on his head he latched the chinstrap before passing through to the door. Seeing the woman sat in a chair nearby with the baby in her arms he stood at the door "May I join you?" He asked politely before coming to sit in a nearby vacant spot. Turning away as he saw her begin to ready herself to feed her child James kept his ears open for any sound of footsteps as he waited for her to speak once more signaling that she was covered. Upon hearing her ask about the base he turned to look in her direction with a smile. "What's it like? Well, our portion is still an active base so I can't really tell ya much on that front. But we got a bit of it set aside for what civilians we got left. The guy that leads them is this real stand up guy Mr. Hallingsworth, There's about a hundred and fifty or so of em, Rangen from kids to old folks." He explained. Waiting for her response on the matter and how she wanted to approach her answer he found an amount of admeration for the woman, to seemingly have a kid on her own and also take care of it, that took some real steal. "Would it be too bold of me to ask your name Ma'am?" he then asked as the warm smile persisted on his features.
"Sure," Liv said absentmindedly when the group's leader asked to join her, her focus on her child. She noted with appreciation that the Marine had turned his gaze away from her while she was getting Jason to latch. Liv nodded as he described the base. She didn't like that he wouldn't tell her about the military side of things as she wasn't sure if he was bluffing or not. Then again, he'd just met her too and Liv sure as hell wouldn't be all that inclined to tell a stranger about her weaponry if she was in his position. The woman nodded as he described the civilian section of the base and its leader. The place sounded...good. Really good. But she still had questions. "How'd y'all take care of everybody and feed 'em and all that? You got a medical place?" Liv asked. She debated raising the issue of her medical knowledge but decided not to for now. If they didn't have a doctor there and found out she was nearly a nurse, who knew what they'd do to get someone who had medical skills. "I'm Liv; Liv Stevenson" she said by way of introduction. "And the little guy is Jason, after his daddy." Liv said, her voice falling sad at the mention of her deceased husband. Wanting to distract herself, Liv lifted the cloth to peek down at her nursing son. He was eating contentedly, and his mother smiled at him before replacing the cloth and returning her attention to the soldier.
Taking the opportunity to adjust himself as he waited for the woman to speak James crossed one leg over the other as he let his M4 rest in his lap, his hand still resting near the buttstock and trigger in case he needed to fire it quickly. Watching once again in admiration as she set to pouring her attention to her child James sat patiently for his answer, Hearing it in short order James kept his smile as he listened to the woman voice her concerns. "Well ma'am, the base itself was stocked with enough food and supplies to last us two years so we run off that along with what my squad along with others find in the field, We supplement that with what we harvest out of the small plot of land the Colonel allowed what remains of the farming community that lived out west to plant in." He explained, His calm mannerisms never faltering as he continued. "We got our Medical officer Brady and the medic's attached to him, everyone calls him Doc." He explained, "There's also Doc Michell who tends to deal with the civs. Real nice lady if you can get passed her extremely dry sense of humor. Mr. Hollingsworth wife helps out there as well so you'll probably get to meet their little twerp as well." He explained hoping the mention of children would help swing her mind on the place as her enthusiasm seemed at an all time low.
Going quiet after his explanations James listened as the woman gave her name along with her sons. "Liv huh? Well Liv, It's very nice to meet you." He said with a smile and a nod in her direction. "Like I said I'm James, James Patrick Tremblay." He reaffirmed to Liv as she continued to feed Jason. Noting Liv's apparent sadness at the mention of her significant others name told James that he wasn't just out of the building but out entirely, probably in the same manner most did these days, by the hands of the deadheads. "Well Liv, any other questions you wanna ask? I'm all ears." he then asked letting his legs uncross before moving to rest his hands on his knee guards. He heard the radio chatter that base had confirmed their request and awaited the new arrival. "Roger that, Keep watch, I'll be out shortly. Out." James returned before clicking the receiver off. "So Liv, We got a timetable to keep." He began looking at his watch, They were set to be nearing the second checkpoint in an hour and so he turned back to Liv as he got to his feet. "I asked Franks to radio base and let them know we might have a few more guests and they just came back with the okay, We aren't gonna force you or nothin so don't worry. If you want we can just go our separate ways and but I'd really like you to come and at least recover in the safety of the walls." He explained, the compassion he felt for the woman and her newborn showing clear as he stepped towards the door. Stopping short he turned, You don't gotta stay, you'll be able to leave as soon as you feel up to it if you want." he added before stopping to hear her answer.

Liv was satisfied with the Sargent's answers about the medical capabilities and food supply of the base. She wanted to know more about the water supply, but from his behavior it seemed like they needed to get moving soon. "We'll come with you," she said, getting up from the chair before pausing. "Just one thing," Liv said firmly. "I've got a stockpile of food and water and baby stuff, and if we're leaving it's coming with us. Y'all can keep the food and water, but the baby stuff's mine," Liv said possessively. "Alright?" She questioned.
Awaiting an answer from the Marine, Liv turned away from him and moved Jason so he was now nursing from her other breast. She could tell by the look on his face that he was getting full and tired, and that's the way Liv wanted him for the ride to the base. She wanted to avoid having a cranky, crying baby draw lurkers to them when they left the relative safety of the CVS. Even with the soldiers around, Liv was acutely aware of how weak she was and how she hadn't had to defend herself for some time. She knew she was out of practice, and she hated how vulnerable it made her, and by extension Jason. Liv replaced the cover over herself and carefully bent down to pick up her shotgun with her free hand. She turned back around to hear Justin's answer.
Upon hearing the womans agreement to come James felt a tinge of relief cross his mind, Internally he had hoped that she wouldn't have refused their help. Leaving someone out in the unknown, especially someone weakened just didn't sit right with him. With a smile he moved to help her up. offering his hand to aid her to her feet James hoped the show of kindness would cement the fact that they were indeed who they said they were. Turning away as he saw her begin to shuffle with her child he counted to ten before turning back. "Roger that Ma'am." James returned with a smile. Offering his assistance in getting her outside he waited for her to accept or decline it before beginning to lead her back out into the main room.
Ramerez and Pickett stood as they did when he went to talk with Liv and as they emerged the two men gave a salute before in unison giving a nod to Liv. "This way Ma'am." James said making sure to keep himself in a position to aid her if she needed "Ramerez, Pickett. Go grab two men and start loading up the food and water in V2. The infant supplies go in V1." he ordered which was swiftly returned with a "Yes sir." from the men as they snapped to action. Making their way through the door where Franks along with three other men and V1 sat he waved the man over. "Franks. This is Liv and her son Jason. I need you to take her back to base and let the Doc take a look at her."
Aiding her to the Humvee James opened the rear door to the backseat of the vehicle before gently aiding her in. "Franks here is gonna run you back to base, They'll take good care of you and your boy." James said reassuringly as he made sure she was securely in the seat. Meanwhile Franks and the couple of soldiers from V3 began filing out with the supplies the woman had claimed, loading them into the back of V1 he gave Liv a reassured smile as her supplies were loaded into the back of the vehicle she sat in. Pickett and Ramerez had begun the same with the food and water, which would stay with them until the end of their patrol that day.
A few minutes later all the supplies were loaded up, all the baby supplies accumulated in the rear of V1 James came to stand near the vehicle as it came to life. Moving to Liv's window he spoke to her one last time before they parted. "They'll get you all set up. I'll come by and check on you once I get back." He said before signalling for the vehicle to get underway.
Watching as V1 pulled away and disappeared back towards base James rallied everyone and ordered them to saddle up. With the supplies loaded and the men back in their vehicles the patrol continued.
LATER THAT AFTERNOON
Nearing the base after completing the final checkpoint on their route James only had one thing on his mind as they made their way through the walls, reentering the base he set to getting everything squared away, First the food and water was dropped off at the supply yard, then checking the Humvee's back into the vehicle yard. Making his way through the debrief in short order he relayed all that they saw as he always did before making his way back out into the cooling fall air. "Right, That's done." He said stretching out. "RnR for the rest of the day huh?" he added looking around at the hustle and bustle of the base. "Wonder how Liv's getting on."
Making his way to the civilian medical building he turned the engine of his vehicle off before entering, Seeing the Doc tending to a broken arm of someone he didn't recognize he gave a half salute in her direction as she took notice of his presence. "Here to see the newcomer?" she asked. "Yes ma'am." He responded, The womans finger extended to a bed in the far corner near the window, just visible behind the curtain two socked feet and at the end of the bed were boxes of baby suppplies. "Thankya ma'am." James said with a nod before closing the distance to the back corner. Seeing Liv come into view he smiled "They got you all set up I see. You comfortable?"

Liv was a little overwhelmed by the sudden flurry of activity, the slow pace of the past few months replaved by urgency as the soldiers efficiently packed her belongings into their vehicles. She was glad that James took control, leading her to the Humvee and introducing her to Franks. As their vehicle pulled away from the CVS, Liv couldn't help but look back, throat tightening as she caught a last glimpse of the store that had been her home for the past three months.
On the drive to the base Jason had finished nursing and falled asleep. Liv held him on her lap as she got herself back together, then cradled him in her arms the rest of the way there. Upon their arrival, Liv and Jason were ushered to a medical bay, the doctor expressed her amazement that Liv had managed to deliver her own child. Liv explained how she had been about to graduate from nursing school before the outbreak hit, and Doc seemed relieved to have another civilian medical professional available. Doc checked over Liv and Jason's vitals, and pronounced them in comparable health to the rest of the civilian population - that is to say, in need of good food and rest but otherwise healthy for the end of the world. The women spent some time talking about making sure Jason was cared for and what to expect at his age, which was mostly sleeping, eating, and pooping, though he had grown since he was born. Liv had been keeping a notebook where she measured him every day in lieu of weighing him to track his growth as she had no scale.
Liv was surprised to see James come around the corner of the curtain. Doc had put her in the back with the curtain drawn for privacy in case she needed to nurse, and also because there were very few babies around these days and she wanted to keep Liv out of the way of prying eyes. Liv smiled at James, Jason dozing lightly in her arms. "Yeah, I am, thank you," she said. "It's....weird, being around other people," Liv admitted, struggling to find the right word to describe how she was feeling. "And not being out in the open, that feels weird too. Good weird though," she quickly reassured him. "Just... different from what I'm used to."

Pulling a nearby chair to rest beside the bed James took a seat as he heard Liv greet him in return. The smile returning to his face as he sat down he hoped his current appearance consisting of just a woodland green shirt and camo lower fatigues was less intimidating than what he wore when they first met. Listening as Liv began to provide her answer James kept the smile on his face, The explanation didn't much surprise him, it was really the norm for most newcomers that had spent a good amount of time traveling. Hell, James probably would freak too if he suddenly found out that there was still such a large group of people making it here. His composure calm and collected he looked back at the woman as she finished her answer. "I understand, It can be a lot to take in, and what you saw on the way here is only about half of it in all honesty." He explained further. "I'm glad you're comfortable and safe, To be honest I don't think I would have been able to sleep if you had chosen to stay at that pharmacy." He said as his hand found it's way to the back of his neck, rubbing it as he let the words find the air.
In the meantime the front door of the medical facility opened and James heard the familiar voice of Rachel Hollingsworth, Collins wife. Along with the sound of their two daughters. The smile on his face growing slightly as he held back a laugh as he heard the goofy little tune the youngest Katlyn was singing. Hearing Doctor Michell mention that 'J' was here in the back he soon heard the little pitter patter of her feet as they grew closer to where he was sitting. Shifting to put his back to her to intentionally make her think she had snuck up on him he began talking to Liv as he kept an ear on her approaching footsteps. "So what's the plan once you get all rested up?" he asked before his world went dark. Suddenly he found small childlike hands covering his eyes as a laugh sounded from behind him, He already knew who it was but he chose to play along. "Guess who J!" Katlyn called with a giggle from behind him. "Hmm, I don't know. Who could these hands belong to?" He asked fully playing along with the little girl Which caused her to giggle even more. "Guess!" she called, "Grace?" He guessed wrong. "Hmmm, Nope!" came the voice. "Hmm." he said bringing his hand stealthfully to spin himself around. "Its Kat isn't it!" he said spinning the chair causing her grip to fall. "Righto! Hey J!" she called placing a hug around his shoulders.
Turning back to face Liv James gave the woman a smile once more as Kat had since climbed onto his lap and made herself right at home playing with her bracelets, James was used to the little ones antics by this point, she pulled them way too much for them to fool anyone close to her but James always enjoyed hearing her having fun so nearly always played along. "Kat, This is Liv. She's new. Liv, This is Kat. She's Collin youngest, the guy that sorta acts as the head of the civ pop here." he explained before Kat looked up from her bracelets "Hello miss." the young girl greeted before returning back to what she was doing. "So after you get all rested up what are your plans?" He then repeated as Kat fully settled in.

"Oh....wow," Liv said when James revealed that what she'd seen so far was only half the base. It was mind boggling that there were so many people still alive, and what they'd built. She appreciated James saying that he wouldn't be able to sleep if she had stayed at the CVS. It was nice to know that someone out there cared, hell, even that someone out there knew she existed.
Liv smiled when she heard a child singing in the front of the medical bay, her smile genuinely growing as James interacted with the little girl. She found her throat growing tight and was a bit teary eyed witnessing the interaction between James and Kat. It gave her hope that Jason would be able to grow up like a normal kid, that she wouldn't have to teach him to wield a knife as soon as he could walk. Swallowing, she took a shaky breath and tried to compose herself, smile still on her face as she watched the young girl play with her bracelets.
Liv shifted Jason in her arms, adjusting his weight and moving him so he was looking at the little girl so she could see him if she wanted to. Liv doubted Kat had seen very many babies. Returning her attention to Jason's question, she paused. "Honestly, probably a shower," she said with a laugh. "That and clean clothes. It's been so long, I must reek to you," Liv said, hiding her insecurity with a laugh. It was true, she hadn't had the chance to bathe in a while as she'd been reserving water for drinking only because it hadn't rained very much lately. And the clothes she was wearing were worn and faded, a now too big tye dye t-shirt that she'd scavanged when her pregnancy belly had forced her out of her old clothes, and a pair of leggings that had been repaired at different points with varying colors of thread. "That and getting settled in somewhere," Liv continued. "And sleeping in an actual bed." She blushed. "A lot of things, actually, now that I think about it."
Shifting so Kat was comfortably resting on his lap James turned his attention back to Liv as he wrapped his arms around the child that now sat fully engrossed in her bracelets. Watching as Liv shifted her son to the other arm to allow them to see her he let his smile grow slightly. "You're safe now little man." he said to the both of them before hearing Liv's answer. A hardy laugh making it's way out of his mouth at her words "I'm sure we can fix that." he responded as the laughter subsided. In all honesty James had been in so many disgusting places that the smell of unclean people really wasn't all that odd to him. Glancing down at what Kat was doing he watched her fiddle with the rope bracelet for a moment, it's purple and red strands wrapping around each other as they looped around her wrist she twirled it around as her legs kicked back and forth happily, a soft hum emitting from her lips as she stole glances towards the baby in Liv's arms. "Umm, ma'am? What's his name?" She asked politely.
James didn't answer, choosing to allow Liv to answer the question herself he sat quiet as the two talked for a time, Kat was usually very upbeat and energetic but when it came to newcomers it always seemed to quell that in a way. Her tone always tended to stay low even through her curiosity, It probably helped that Jason was still sleeping which had caused the young girl to quiet herself even more than she usually would. As time passed James listened as Kat seemed to be warming up to the newcomer, thankfully Liv didn't seem all that bad, especially around kids so James didn't really feel the need to be on guard mode. Minutes later A voice from behind him caught his attention, Serenity, Collins oldest who was just about to turn eighteen approached. "Kat? Are you bothering people again?" she asked as she came to stand behind James. "Oh, hey J." she greeted before turning her eyes to the newcomer. "My apologies if my sister is causing you trouble." she said bowing her head before flicking Kat's shoulder. "What? I'm just sitting here and talkin to Liv. I ain't causin trouble Ray." Kat protested.
"She's fine Ray, I got her." James then responded. "Alright J, Well, you know where we're at if you want her out of your hair." Serenity then said before hearing her name called from the other room. "Oh! Be right there mom!" She called back, turning to face the newcomer she gave the girl another bow. "Welcome to Fort Worth ma'am." she said before quickly turning on her heals; Closing the distance to the door in quick order before disappearing into the adjacent room. Turning back to Liv after watching her disappear James smiled "Well, welcome to the liveliest greeting party in the world." he chuckled, "That was Serenity, she's probably the most dedicated teen you'll ever meet when it comes to helping folks out." he explained as he tapped Kat's shoulder signalling her to move for a moment so he could shift his weight. "Well, other than a shower and a change of clothes, is there anything we can get you?"
"Yeah, he is. We both are," Liv affirmed when Justin told Jason he was safe now. "This is Jason," Liv said as she introduced her son to the girl. The infant opened his eyes slightly, waking up. His thick dark hair was spiky and stuck out in at least three directions despite Liv's attempts to tame it. She'd practically given up by now. He looked around the room at nothing in particular, just taking in the scene. Liv couldn't help but wonder what he thought of seeing people besides her. Or if he even noticed, given that he was only a few weeks old.
Liv couldn't help but smile at the interaction between the siblings. It reminded the woman of her and her sisters growing up, the memories hitting Liv's heart hard. She didn't know what happened to them, if they were ok or even where they were. Dallas was only a half hour drive, but now with how little gas was available, it'd take at least a week just to get there, and who knew what state the city would be in. It was too risky, and as much as Liv wanted to know what happened to her family she knew she would have to live with the uncertainty.
"Thanks, that's good to know," Liv said when James introduced Serenity. "Well, diapers are always appreciated," Liv joked in response to James' question.
