Mal had no idea what was more embarrassing: the fact that she was all tied up and being dragged by her feet; or the fact that she allowed herself to be captured in the first place. Damn, they had things together so well: a good group and a nice truck converted into a walker-killing machine. When they stopped on the road to Atlanta for a little girl in the middle of the street Mal had a feeling it was a trap, and so did Troy; but the rest of their group couldn't help themselves unfortunately resulting in the predicament they were in right now. They got split up in the chaos of the ambush, and it was only Mal and Troy who stuck together resulting in their mutual capture.
For now it seemed they had reached the end of the line. They were brought into a big room in a basement somewhere that was drenched in the smell of blood. What the hell did they use it for? Mal enjoyed the brief stop of being dragged across the floor, only for it to end abruptly with her and Troy being hoisted up, feet first, resulting in them hanging next to eachother upside down. It made Mal nervous, even more than she already was; and when she got nervous she got mouthy and sarcastic as a defense mechanism.
"Oh you gotta be fucking kidding me." Mal spoke. "As if being captured wasn't embarrassing enough..."
"SHUT UP!" one of her captors shouted.
"Hey, fuck you dude!" Mal replied. "You hang people upside down this is what you get okay!?"
Seemed being told fuck you was too much for the man to bear. He punched Mallory in the stomach, resulting in her squirming and letting out a few coughs. She regained her posure after a few seconds.
"Ugh... well so much for chivalry." Mal said. "I'd hate to say anything stereotypical about woman-beating in the south, yet here we are..."
As the man was about to punch Mal again, he was stopped by one of the others.
"No! We need them both intact! If you bruise them they'll..."
The man didn't finish his sentence, and Mallory couldn't help but wonder why. They all left the room, leaving Mallory and Troy hanging upside down in the middle of it. Mal observed their surroundings, taking a bit longer than usual because of the fact they were upside down, but she could make out that this room was an improvised slaughterhouse. Cold chills ran down her spine; she hadn't seen any farm animals on their way in.
She thought the worst. She had heard about people reverting to this, but had hoped them to be only rumors. Humanity had gone bad sure, but to sink this low?
"Uhh Troy?" Mal called. "Like, don't freak out... But I think we might be on the menu..."
Mal started to wriggle the bounds on her hands on her back. Fuck, they had to get out of there like right now. Unfortunately she was tied up pretty well, and the same probably went for Troy. She sighed when she realized it was no good. However, she knew her companion was an ace at hiding things. She hoped Troy had an ace up his sleeve and that they didn't find it when they were searched and stripped of their gear.
"Fuck me..." Mal said. "Troy, tell me you're keistering like a knife or something..."
Mal relaxed for a second. She knew a human being could be upside down for at least 8 hours before their body started to shut down. However, it seemed likely they'd be turned into Mallory-burgers and Troy-dogs way before that could happen...
