That night Mikayla had been in terror and overwhelmed with guilt. She believed her brother to be dead and that she was responsible for it. In the morning a couple of guards came to notify her parents and seeing her mother break down broke Mikayla's heart. But that feeling quickly faded and made room for terror once more when the guards told them Gerry had survived the fall. For a moment Mikayla thought they were going to haul her off but then she felt somewhat relieved when they told them her brother was in a coma, and that it was unknown whether or not he would ever wake up.
Mikayla felt like a scumbag for hoping he'd never wake up. If he did he'd tell them what she did as soon as he'd be awake. Or maybe there was the slight possibility that he had amnesia from the fall. But it was all a moot point. It wasn't even sure whether or not he'd ever wake up. Considering the way Gerry was before the fall, maybe it was better if he would die. To Mikayla, after he pulled the trigger on her, it felt like her brother was already dead anyway.
That day it was business as usual. Mikayla went to work in the kitchen and did her daily job but she did notice however that Josephine for some reason was trying to make contact with her. She couldn't help but wonder why but it was obvious the girl was trying to get her attention.
That evening Mikayla went to her usual spot on the boat and sure enough, she was approached by Josephine. The whole thing seemed a bit weird and Mikayla did cope with the fact Serina might've put her up with this, even if it was against her will. The chalkboard she carried with her said: "we need to talk". Mikayla couldn't help but wonder what about.
"Alright." Mikayla said. "Can you read lips or do I write things down? How does this work?"
She had no idea of course that Josephine could hear her just fine. Mikayla sat down and looked at Josephine, lighting up a bummed cigarette she got from Danny. Her eyes stopped at Josephine's neck for a brief second. Were those bruises? If so she knew she didn't have to ask who put them on her. Serina was a rabid beast in need of being put down. And if Josephine was here to ask Mikayla help with that, she just might oblige.
