It's Just Who You Are
Likes:
Shinys (What Sophia calls things she 'finds'.), Dancing, Sprinting/Running, breezy days and nights, rain
Dislikes:
Being talked down to, getting caught, people prying about why she's alone, hot days, long hikes
Strengths:
Quick hands; Over the years of her life Sophia has become very good at stealing things thanks to her father, this had led to help her survive, She has become proficient at snitching things without being caught
Quick on her feet; Sophia's small form has allowed her to become proficient at dodging blows and generally good at being quick on her feet in tight situations.
Good eye; Being on the road for so long has allowed Sophia to pick up the ability to see useful things among the trash, her small stature aiding in her ability to pick out the things that can be useful where other people might not think to look.
Habits:
Sophia carries her fathers prized possession on a chain around her neck, a small ring and a larger one, the larger one belonging to him and the smaller to her mother, She will a lot of the time find herself spinning the rings around with her fingers when idle.
Flaws:
Bad Knee; Years spent in track before the apocalypse and spending a lot of time on the road has caused Sophia's left knee to give out at times after walking for long stents of time.
Big apatite; Sophia can eat you out of house and home if you'll let her, Her high metabolism causes her to get hungry faster than most.
Frail body; While Sophia is small and quick this also means that her small body is a lot weaker than most and she be injured easier.
Childish; Sophia can be very childish when it comes to some of the more serious matters groups face, The fact she always tries to shut all the bad stuff out can lead to people not taking her as serious as they otherwise would
Short tempered; Sophia is quick to anger when things have started to go south, generally blaming others as the cause
possessive; Sophia is very protective of what she see's as hers.
Dreams/goals:
Before the end Sophia loved track and Dance, While it wasn't her personal goal everyone around her saw her going off to do great things in these fields. After the dead began to roam that goal has shifted to one of just making it through the day, To a safe place.
Fears:
Large herds of the dead, The more there are the scarier they are.
Overall Personality:
Sophia has become manipulative in her teenage years, Still possessing her childish charms she uses them along with the skills she learned from her father to her advantage in tricking people into allowing her into their company with the idea that she's just a child needing help, Only they awake to find their supplies lacking and the young red head gone the next day. On the surface she's just a little girl. But years being raised by a con artist of a father has shown it's head in the year since the world went to hell. When law went, so did the hand holding the young redhead from taking what she wanted. She's smart about it though and will chooses her time carefully. She may come off as an innocent child when she wants to but don't be fooled, she's the furthest thing from it, Falling into less positive crowds doesn't phase her, in fact she welcomes it. Like minded people are always fun to be around. especially after the end when there isn't the threat of a lock and key.
Even Though Yesterday's Gone
History:
Before the end Sophia lived with her parent's. Her mothers name was Colleen and her fathers was George. They lived in a small apartment that sat above a small flower shop that her father had bought her mother as a birthday present before Sophia was born. How did he afford such a thing you ask? Simple. George was a con man, a swindler and a thief. A right smart one too. When Sophia came along the flower shop continued to act as a front for the real business that her father ran. As Sophia grew and came to an age where she could understand what was going around her to some extent she became his accomplice, Not that she knew what she was doing back then.
As the years passed and Sophia grew into her own she started to get what it was they were doing. The thrill from it all almost intoxicating, from the age of nine Sophia's routine became school and track during the day, outings with dad at night. A couple of times they came into danger, her father nearly got caught lifting a heavy television from the garage of one of their 'targets' as her father liked to call them. That night Sophia ran, At her fathers words he left him there and darted through the quiet night away from the scene and away from the flashing lights. Reaching a few streets over she came to the main road and began to walk. Cop cars flew passed but payed her no mind, What would a young girl walking through a suburban neighborhood have to do with a robbery anyway?
This was how her life was before the dead walked, before the world went to shit.
On the day of the outbreak Sophia was watching the family flower shop as her mother ran out to grab something, The day was cloudy and extremely Gloomy for Reno and it was an oddly slow day. A flower shop in the middle of downtown Reno was very popular you see. Noticing her mother was taking longer than usual on her trips to the store caused Sophie to walk to the window and glance down the road.
There was a slight sense of worry starting to worm its way into Sophie’s mind as she peered through the window as a cluster of fire trucks and police cars went flying past the shop, Seeing a few bloody figures shamble out of an ally across the way is when she saw her. Colleen, Her mother, laying on the ground across from the shop, two of the monsters eating her.
In a panic Sophia darted up the stairs in the back room and into the door into their apartment. This isn't happening! No! What... That wasn't real. she kept repeating to herself as the time passed and she waited, In the hope that her mom or dad would come walking through the door.
Sophia hid in the small apartment above that lonesome flower shop for two days before she came out to find someone familiar, Leaving the safety of her home with nothing but the clothes on her back in search of her father. Passing her mother's dead body frightened her to no end and caused her to go sprinting down the street; Her legs taking her as fast as she could make them away from whatever the creatures were that were eating her mom she found herself in a cluster of unfamiliar buildings, Scared and alone she hid.
Three more days past and what little food she had managed to find in the small building she had been hiding in had run out, The screams and shouting from the street had seemed to die down over the course of the few days and on that third morning she heard an unfamiliar sound of orders being shouted and engines. Peaking out of the small window she saw men and women clad in military outfits and carrying guns making their way through the street. Sophia ran down the stairs with the backpack she had managed to find in the building down to the front door and opened it. "Please... I'm all alone..." she said to them as they took notice of her.
Once at the compound she found herself lost in a herd with other civilians that had managed to either make it to the safe area or had been picked up by a group of soldiers like herself. Alone, and scared she sat on a curb with her face in her hands when she heard a familiar voice call her name. It was her dad, George. Who had managed to make it somehow or another to the same safe area.
They stayed there for a spell after that, Sophia felt extremely awkward around her father at first, It had been the first time she spent so much time around him since she before she could remember and she was starting to learn that he could be really fun to be around when the chance was given. The settlement fell as they so often did when the strength of a herd was taken lightly and was misunderstood.
The duo was able to escape that death trap though and they stayed away from cities for a while after that, finding a few groups here and there, George always seemed to know the right thing to say to get them in and it generally involved using her as a part of the ploy. Knowing exactly what he was doing she would always play along and it would nearly always trick the less cautious members of what was left of society, Never staying long as they took what they needed and left fairly quickly. Very few people that they met knew their names, Their real ones anyway. For the first few months they stayed around California, going group to group lifting any supply that they needed. Once they even lifted a car, Which they used to find new grounds. Traveling across the state they soon found themselves in the midwest. Passing through Tulsa Oklahoma, Littlerock Arkansas, Into Louisiana for a time and soon into Mississippi where tragedy struck. Her father had a habit of speeding and that day was no exception. Flying full speed down the road they didn't have enough time to dodge the shmbler that found its way onto the road in front of them and when the car passed over it the corpse was lodged into the wheel of the car sending it tumbling. Her father used the brief moment he hand to shield her with his body sparing her from major injury. He on the other hand, was far less lucky. George died that day and left Sophia orphaned in the hell of a world they lived in now. Quick on her feet she trudges on now three months removed from being accompanied by family she looks for new people, maybe to take from, maybe to find comfort in. No one knows except the passing of time.
