Fears: none per se. Sam doesn't experience fear as most people would define it. He understands danger and avoids it where possible, but he doesn’t “fear” it. To his mind, a horde of zombies is no different than a loud party with flashy lights and loud music. With proper precautions and equipment, the zombies can be overcome, just like loud sounds or bright lights.

Overall Personality: Sam was diagnosed at a young age with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Fortunately, he resides on the high functioning end of the spectrum. He is generally stable and can self manage his daily life with few difficulties. However he does have certain personality traits which make interacting with people and his environment difficult in certain cirumstances. He is quite slow to adapt to changes and often bucks social norms, often without realizing it, or why those norms exist in the first place.





History: History: Sam Wyatt and his brother Sean were born in a quiet suburb of Augusta, Maine. Their mother worked for the United States Postal service and their father was a Combat Medic in the Army. When Sam was diagnosed, the family moved closer to the city so that he could attend one of the better schools in the area, which had an Autism resource program. His parents attempted to give Sam as “normal” a life as was possible given his ASD, and were largely successful. He went to school and even joined the Scouts with his brother. Of course there were setbacks and issues, but the family was always able to make it work.

Sam and Sean were attending a Scout Camp in North Carolina when the outbreak occurred. His parents were reluctant to send him, as he’d never been apart from them both for any length of time, but finally they were convinced and allowed him and his brother to go. After the world ended, the boys stayed at the camp with their fellow Scouts and adult leaders for several months before the troop decided to try and get back to Maine. On their way from North Carolina to Maine, the boys watched their numbers dwindle until it was just Sam and his brother Sean.

They have continued however and made it to Virginia. Sam has adapted to the world as it is with the help of his brother and is able to function for the most part. He relies on Sean for a great many things however, not the least of which is to maintain a routine, and to provide some form of structure. While his Autism be a hindrance in the ever-shifting landscape of the new world, it also has the effect of shielding him from the destabilizing trauma of how the world fell. To him, what mattered most wasn't his family or his home, but the rules by which one lived. Sam doesn't think about home. His condition affords him the ability to only live in the here and now, which most people who remember the old world well have had a hard time doing.
