It was cold for October, colder than usual anyway. The rain poured down as if the sky wept for the very person that Josephine was there to help find, and if all possible, save from the perilous trails and rocks of the untamed portions of Maine's countryside. In front of her as she stepped out of the helicopter that had airlifted her, along with the second wave of searchers from the nearby town of Bodfish sat the HQ tent. Bold white letters with black outline spelt out 'MASAR' above it's entrance as pallets of supplies lay strung in semi-orderly clumps around it's perimeter. "RC! You and group three are heading north to the rocky trail., report to Jayce in HQ for further instructions!" a man called in her direction. "Understood!" Josephine called in return as she spun to face the rest of her group.
Beginning to back pedaled towards the HQ tent Josephine, or Red-cross as most of the people around her knew her as, Began looking over the people assigned to the party. Among them only one familiar face shown through, a blonde, maybe two or three years younger than her that was at the last operation, although at that time the blonde was shadowing for training. "Alright people. Some of you may know know me, most of you probably don't. But know this." Red-cross spoke with determination and a drive like a great burning fire in her soul. "Now I want you to know that there is a very real chance that what we find won't be what we want. But we WILL do everything in our power to bring this person home." Her unwavering tone appeared to stoke the flames of determination in the rest of her group members and upon seeing this Red-cross smiled before spinning to face forward again as they made there way passed the plastic windbreak of the tent and into it's illuminated interior. Inside a man poured over maps spread haphazardly across a fold out table his brow furrowed in frustration as he went about tracking their search area's. "Ah, aren't you a sight for sore eyes." the man spoke with barely a glance in her direction.
"What's the situation Jayce?" she asked without responding to his greeting.
Jayce chuckled, if only slightly. "Straight to business as usual I see."
Josephine nodded.
"Good." The man spoke serious yet firm. "What we know is a group of four hikers went up the pass three days ago and never showed up on the other side. They were last seen entering the steeper portion of route five. Group one is searching the area to the south of the route, Group two the North. I want you and group three to take the East."
Josephine nodded. "Attire?" she asked.
"They were uniform, All four were last seen in yellow florescent windbreakers and beige hiking breathers." Dan grabbed a folder from the edge of the table and slid it to her. "Pictures of them are in the report."
Without another word Josephine nodded again, the fire burning even brighter in her eyes as she took a cluster of large steps back outside. The sun was falling but night searching wasn't something new to her. "Alright People. We're on a time crunch here. We have about an hour of daylight left and a lot of ground to cover. Let's move out!"
