Tolkien and has based his entire career around aspects from his works, He tends to default to stories or aspects from the works to reason the daily going-ons around him.), Overbearing, Can't take things as serious as he probably should some times.
Dreams/goals: Dan's dream from a very early age was and has since continued to be a metal worker that specialized in making replica weapons from the Tolkien works, as he grew older and this dream began to become reality he primarily focused on selling to cosplayers for conventions, as the world came to an end he brought his skills up to making usable weapons and his goal shifted to keeping him and his family safe from the Undead thralls.
Fears: Dan's greatest fear's are losing his family to the horde and losing the books he has had since his childhood
Overall Personality: Dan is a goofball, plain and simple. He always strives to keep the moods of the people around him lighthearted and cheerful, he doesn't much care for tense situations and would rather hang back in a supporting role of sorts for the most part. If life was an RPG he would be the bard.
Even Though Yesterday's Gone
History: Dan "The Man" Nadeau spent his early years in a small town north of Ontario named Sudbury, The son of a Literature professor and a professor of Mathematics at the local college his earliest memory was that of his father reading to him from one of his favorite books, The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. As the years passed and his father expanded his library from just The Hobbit to also incorporating The Lord of the Rings along with a plethora of other Tolkien works Dan found his love for the author solidified. Taking a particular liking to the dwarves mentioned in the works and the things they made Dan decided on his dream one evening when he was nine and listening to his father elaborate on the mines of Khazad-dûm and the great works that were said to be made there before the wakeing of the Balrog, Durin's bane.
Reaching his teen years and entering highschool his love for everything Tolkein had since blossomed even further, at the age of sixteen his father had gifted him a copy of the hobbit, a complete collection of The Lord of the Rings trilogy along with a copy of the Silmarillion, Graduating with passing grades his school years weren't anything that special. Having decided early on what he was going to do in life he didn't find it important to learn things other than what would apply to his work, To his parents dismay he only put in the effort in math, while everything else he did enough to hold a steady passing grade, but nothing more. Getting in to the real world Dan quickly sought out a local smith and became his underling for a cluster of years, The mentor in question primarily focused on ring making that he then sold at local craft stores, Dan picked these skills up but ultimately drifted away from him in favor of another who spent his time making replica weapons for use with Cosplay outfits, This was what caught Dan's eye the most.
Spending a number of years under the man Dan picked up many a technique and expanded his repertoire from simple rings to axes, swords, daggers, and more. It was 2006 when Dan first met his beloved at a craft store one day, She was looking for supplies to make flower pots, while Dan was on the hunt for gauze to use in a hilt. Dan, Being the talkative guy he was quickly struck up a conversation with her and before they had even parted ways he had himself a date the following Monday. Later that year they were married, and nine months later their Daughter Darsie was born, followed in short order by their son Danny. Dan had set up his own metal shop in the downtown area of Sudbury in the years following and made enough to support them through the work he got from the somewhat large Cosplaying community of the nearby metropolis of Ontario and grew to a point where he would on occasion get things ordered to be used in small films. It was a good life.
The day the Undead began to walk Dan had been taking the week off to spend with his family during the kids spring break, Danise spent her time working on her flowers while Dan spent his time doing just as his father had done with him, Reading Tolkien books to his daughter, unfortunately Danny didn't take to it as readily as Darsie had but Dan didn't mind, as long as one of them was interested in the creatures and tales of Middle Earth he was perfectly contempt.
Terror filled the air that evening, fire engulfed the town and the family was forced to leave everything they once loved behind in the raging inferno caused by whatever the creatures that had sprouted from the ground. They found themselves in the company of a small group for the first year or so and had made themselves a place to stay in a small outcropping of buildings hidden by woods near a town to the south called St. Thomas, Little did they know however that a man who used the chaos of the new world to his advantage was making his home on their doorstep. Alec proved to be a formidable man to deal with and as things between the groups escalated Dan soon found the chaos at his doorstep once again, Everyone began to fall and as they did Dan and his family found themselves caught in a room once again, with nowhere to go. That was, until another came. A nice little family that managed to fight back the dark forces that kept them in hiding. Now Dan finds himself helping them with an urgent matter, one that would have him deal with Alec once more and may mark a turning point in the delicate balance they had hung on to for so long.
