Being more or less somewhat reassured that the teens wouldn't burn the whole island down in their absence, Ragi left with Abby for the boat and they departed back to the mainland with it. The boat ride over was short, but it felt longer and the question remained whether or not they'd be happy to see them back. They did leave after all without telling anyone. Ragi could already hear Lindstrom whining and spouting accusations at them. Somehow she hoped he would though, she was actually looking forward of beating his ass again.
But the expectation of a cold reception quickly faded when Ragi noticed smoke coming from the settlement. Sighing, Ragi knew this really didn't bode well for the inhabitants. She grabbed a pair of binoculars and scanned the environment, but from where they were in the water she couldn't quite figure out where the smoke originated from.
"Trouble." Ragi said, and then handed the binoculars to Abby. While her friend looked Ragi got the boat closer in. Sure enough, as they neared the dock, the smoke became thicker and the smell suggested something mechanical and fuel-based had gone up in flames. From the smoke emerged a figure and it took a moment to determine it was a dead one.
"Fuck." Ragi cursed. Then took the HK417 assault rifle and shot the dead person in the head from the boat. Another one emerged which Ragi killed in the same way. She then waited a few minutes making sure no others were coming before mooring the boat onto the docks. She then grabbed her pack and weapons, and helped Abby get to land as well.
"Flott, vi drar, og dette stedet blir dritt." (Great, we leave and this place goes to shit.) Ragi said. "Jeg antar at vi tross alt hadde god innflytelse!" (I guess we were a good influence after all!)
Ragi went further off the docks and cleared the smoke, then looked around but the place seemed all but deserted. Yet, she knew the dead could be in every nook and cranny and it was likely people who were alive not too long ago had most likely joined their ranks.
