Take things one step at a time. This phrase ran on loop in Addy's mind as she crept through the shattered glass door of what used to be a local pharmacy. In front of her stood Arvid, a tall and muscular man with shoulder length brown hair and a beard to match. To her rear was Inger, a short and skinny woman who had an eating problem. A problem Addy was trying hard to fix. But they had bigger fish to fry right now. "ser du noe ennå?(See anything yet?)" she asked in a whisper as she gripped her own weapon with a nervous squeeze. She used it only because she had to, truth be told she didn't much care for firearms, or weapons in general for that matter. But that's just part of the world now, like it or not.
"shh. Stille, jeg tror jeg hørte noe.(Shh, I think I heard something.)" came the baritone sound of Arvid from in front of her. Instantly her and Inger went quiet and listened. On the other side of the wall the three could hear the low moan of one of them, and behind that the buzz of a radio who's station had long since gone off the air. The fact it was still on led Addy to assume whoever the thing used to be only recently died. Batteries didn't last forever in those sorts of things.
"Dere to blir her, jeg skal ta tak i det.(You two wait here, I'll take it out.)" Arvid said before brandishing his knife and creeping around the corner. Shortly the sound of metal piercing flesh met the air and Addy let out a sigh. Not of relief mind you, but one of pity. Pity for the person the creature used to be and what their final moments must of been like. Rounding the corner Addy and Inger crossed through the door into the room with the now deceased creature. Addy looked it over and could see what remained of a bite mark on the womans leg. 'Least you're in a better place now.' she thought as she shook her head. Arvid went through the adjacent door only to reappear a few moments later "Alt klart(All clear.)" he said after disappearing through the second door for a moment more.
"Bra, se etter noe nyttig. Antibiotika, smertestillende, søvnhjelpemidler, alt som ser nyttig ut. spørsmål om hva noe bare er å stille. (Good, look for anything useful. Antibiotics, painkillers, sleep aids, everything that looks useful grab it. any questions on what something is just ask.)" With those words Addy's two companions nodded and went to separate sides of the room. The chilled air sent the occasional shiver up her spine as she began opening drawers and cabinets searching for anything useful. Keeping her list fresh in her mind as she went about her work. 'Don't worry little one, I'll find you some medicine.' she thought to herself as she continued.
"Er dette noe bra?(Is this something good?)" Arvid asked holding up a bottle to her.
"du er en god send, ja. Det er det vi trenger.(you are a god send, yes. That's what we need.)" Addy said with an excited whisper. "La oss se etter noe annet før vi går.(Let's see what else we can find and then head back.)" She added before closing the drawer and taking the bottle from Arvid. As she held it in her hand she smiled knowing they had found what they had set out for. Now they just needed to get back and give it to her sister Andrine who had caught a bad case of Flu. A common aliment that most wouldn't have put much thought into before the end. Just a matter of making a doctors appointment and filling a prescription. A convince and comfort Addy defiantly missed dearly.
"Tror det er omtrent alt vi skal finne Addy.(Think that's about all we're gonna find Addy.)" Arvid said after another ten minutes or so of searching through the building. Addy nodded in understanding at his words. "OK, vi har det vi kom for pluss mer så det er i orden(OK, we got what we came for plus more so that's fine.)" With another nod the trio made one last sweep of the building before heading out. Back out on the road the trio started heading through the cleared area's they came through the trio began discussing. Arvid voiced his concern about Andrine's sinckness spreading while Inger asked about food, as always. Addy took time to reasure them both on their concerns but as she did her mind fell to her own concerns. At the forefront of those concerns was the food supply. They had cleared out the local markets of nonperishable foods early on but those supplies were beginning to dwindle and hadn't decided what their plan was. A fact that caused Addy great amounts of Anxiety. Shaking her head she told herself she'd think about it after Andrine was well again. For now that's all that mattered.
