Dreams/goals: Yui had a dream of becoming a doctor like her mother or a medic like her father. Being raised to always hold her studies above all she found herself on the fast track to reaching this goal, even going as far as to begin attending the top university in Tokyo until the end of the world happened
Fears: Never seeing her family again, seeing the people she's grown close to turn into one of the dead, Never getting to eat Kare-Raisu again.
Overall Personality: Yui is kind to those around her although a lot that she says has a tendency to be lost in translation. Japanglish is strong with this one. Taking after her mother and father she has a love for reading and learning as well as medicine. Having spent the better part of her school going career knowing full well what she wanted to do in life she pushed hard and fast to reach this goal. Having even gotten into one of the top universities in Tokyo. (Note: University in this since is a step between College/Uni and high school; sorta like advanced college prep school of sorts that transfers directly into college/uni level work at the same school) Very studious she picks up on things quickly and loves passing knowledge on to others. However, Self contentious about her abilities in the English language she is quiet and soft spoken and can be somewhat hard to understand at times. Kindness and strength through perseverance leads the way with this girl.
Even Though Yesterday's Gone
History:
Yui grew up in the city of Setagaya, a section of the greater Tokyo area nestled between Shibuya and the greater Tama Ward it served as her home throughout her childhood. The daughter of a doctor working in the main portions of Toyko and medic in the JSGDF she always found herself around medicine and books, these two things stuck with her throughout her childhood.
Reaching Middle School age Yui had gotten herself into a number of things, Having decided (with a little help and push from her family) to follow in their footsteps just as her older sister had done a few years before she had since dedicated herself to learning as much as she could about the medical field. Her sister had talked her into joining the softball team upon joining and this along with the newly founded medical research club at her school (that she founded no less) her days and mind were quickly filling with two things, firstly, research, all the research. Secondly; Softball, training, and competing. The later of which being a past time of her fathers before he joined the defense force he would never miss a game.
Reaching the end of her high school years Yui was given the opportunity to take the entrance exam for Tokyo University, one of the top schools of the area and the third best school in Japan overall. She studied furiously for weeks and the day the exam was set to take place she arrived two hours early, Nerves high and exceptions from her family even higher, (even more so thanks to her sisters scores on the same test not three years before) she soon found herself in one of the many classrooms the campus held. Hours passed and nothing but the sound of pencil on paper and the footsteps of the observer were heard, that was, until she finished. Sighing a breath of relief Yui turned in her test and headed home, a few days would have to pass before she got her results, but she was confident that she did well, well enough at least.
The next few months went by in a blur, having succeeded in passing the entrance exam Yui found herself full steam ahead in her studies yet again, this time however it felt like she had a purpose rather than just studying to further her basic knowledge. The classes she attended now were especially tailored for what she was after, and each day was like that last. Full of learning, full of fun.
About a year later Yui was entering her second year in TU, The previous month her teacher had spoken of a school trip the top students would be taking in a months time and today was the day those top students would embark. The trip in question was one Yui could never dream of passing up. They would be heading to America and visit some of the greater area's of the state, including some of the major museums. Reaching the states that next week Yui found herself in a whirlwind of new experiences, new places, new smells, new foods, new everything. The people around here weren't as nice as they are in Japan but they all had that American charm. Everything was bigger here, Everything.
Having passed through the western states, and the central plains, The group found themselves in Maine when the first reports of strange creatures began emerging. They'd spent some time in the Acadia National Park area and were about to head back to Washington to catch their flight back when shit went to hell.
Yui won't remember what happened that day, all the death, the chaos. It was too much. Shutting herself off she found herself quieter after that, not being able to speak up like she could before she found it hard making friends with people and tended to stick to herself. All of her classmates and teachers dead, the walking dead all around her Yui made her way back to Maine and lived for a time. Now, Low on food she headed out to search and managed to find a military base, will it hold food? Hopefully. 'I'm so hungry..'
