Even Though Yesterday's Gone
History: Joel Thomas Meyers was born in a rough family. Being the first born son he saw and experienced a lot of abuse from his father John who was a drunk while his mother worked her best to pay the bills slaving away three jobs yet in her own way she was abuse towards Joel not physically but emotional wise. When Mike was born a few years later Joel did his best to protect his younger brother from their father. When he was sixteen he took up boxing not only as a way to defend himself but to let out his anger. A year later John beat Monica Mike tried to intervene but when he did his father turned on him. Joel came out of his room and seeing this all the anger he had built up in him he let it out his dad beating him to a bloody pulp.
Seeing the crazy look in Joel's eyes made his father fear him and after that day his father never laid a hand on his mother or Mike. Joel enjoyed fighting and he started getting gigs as an amateur boxer. He felt that for once in his life he had a purpose. So while he was building up his boxing career his brother Mike acted as his coach in a sense although it was never official. He was in his early twenties now and he had build a name for himself as the "Mad Dog of Detroit". He was simply a loose cannon in the ring and he destroyed his opponents. He got an opportunity to get into professional boxing and he jumped at the chance. He was with Mike and a few of his friends celebrating the news when he met the most beautiful girl there. Her name was Teresa and it was love at first sight for Joel. He feel head over heels for her and within a year they got married moving to San Francisco, California.
He traveled the world enjoying his fame but it came at a price as he started to drink more heavily and do a lot of drugs. He was taking way to many painkillers and soon he became addicted to not only the drugs but alcohol as well. It put a strain on his marriage as he missed the birth of his daughter Apple as he was in desperate need of a fix but when he saw her he swore to her and his wife that he would get clean. He got clean from drugs and cigarettes but alcohol was still a problem. After a series of losses that really worsen Joel's mood as he became more angry almost like his old man. But his world came crashing down after his daughter Apple died and he blamed himself as she drowned in his pool while he passed out on the couch. Teresa soon left Joel but not before revealing that she was having an affair with Mike, Joel slammed his brother against the wall but he couldn't bring himself to hit him. All he wanted right now was to be alone and shut out the world.
He then rarely left his house wallowing in his depression he almost went insane as he thought at one point he was talking to his daughter. His manager came to see him one day and told him about a boxing match that was going on for charity. Joel took it as he felt he needed to try and move on with his life. He won the match and soon afterwards was working on making a comeback even doing a few promos. But then the world ended as he woke up to people screaming and chaos happening in the streets. He tried to call his friends no answer but he called Mike who he hadn't talked to since their fallout. Mike told him what he had seen as he was now in New York with Teresa and as he heard Mike he turned on the news. He couldn't believe it and soon the line disconnected. Joel grabbed what he could from his house stuffing it in his 1960 chevy truck. He drove for as long as he could and at first he tried to help people but soon enough after experiencing some losses and feeling like a failure he decided to look after himself in this new world.
