Even Though Yesterday's Gone
History:Vincent Morrison was born to a loving and caring family who had a stable life. Vincent learned from his father how to live a hard yet fair life. As a kid he was put to work early on working at his father's store. If he screwed up he was punished harshly sometimes it was a closed fist or times it was a slap. He took it as tough love and pushed through it always trying to make his father proud of him. It was simple things at first stalking up the shelves but later on in life when he was in his teens he began to be rebellious towards his parents, he would fight at school or would be trespassing. He was also most heading into a life of crime but at 18 his father put his foot down and gave him a choice either join the Army or live on the streets. He followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Army straight out of high school.
But instead of taking lives he would be saving them.
It was during that time in training he earned his skills as a medic and he would regular go on tour and wouldn't be back for months. But after years of blood, sweat and tears he earned the rank of Captain at the age of 29. He was nicknamed the "Mercy" as he kept not only soldiers alive but prisoners of war as well. The higher ups ordered him to participate in the torturing of the POWs by keeping them alive. He struggled with it for a long time and a few times he almost got into a scuffle with the men who were torturing the prisoners but in the end he just followed orders and walked away.
He was stationed in Japan after his tour when he met his future girlfriend and later wife Mai Shibasaki. She was a medic just like him and at the time when his life was so dark she was the light at the end of the tunnel. The two got along well and at first it seemed casual and perfect but once Mai was pregnant everything change. The two had their disagreements on if they should keep the baby or give it up for adoption. Vincent wanted the kid and convinced Mai to keep her.
Within nine months Hope was born in this world and Vincent was about to take time off but Mai told him that she would be staying at her parents' place in California and Vincent reluctantly stayed on base in Japan for a few months before finally coming home one day before the world went upside down.
On the day of the Outbreak he was in Texas with a few other soldiers. Their plane landed and as their gate opened up that is when all hell broke loose. People were panicking and chaos was all around. They saw people attacking one another and as he saw soldiers trying to help the people who were being attack they would take two or three shots to the chest and it wouldn't even faze them.
He barely got out of the airport alive with a few other soldiers and that was when he saw that the world had gone to hell. He had got in contact with his Superior and got on a truck and was stationed at Fort Bliss. As they drove there he was in the back with other soldiers as he looked out the window seeing the death and destruction that was happening. When he reached Fort Bliss he was greeted by Major Mason Lynch. He could see the man was strangely calm through out this and it almost seemed like he enjoyed it. But still he was stationed in the medical center where he began to work on hundreds of patents that day.
He found out from another soldier there that when they attack the only way to put them down was a hit in the head and if they were bit or scratched they were done for unless it could be amputated in time. His first day in the outbreak was pure hell something he would never forget.
Within a few weeks Fort Bliss fell to the undead and he stuck with Major Lynch and a few soldiers for a year. Being on the road for a year the two had mutual respect for one another but he could see that Lynch had a dark side to him as he witnessed first had the cruelty and brutality of Lynch and some of his men. They would rob and steal from camps even have their way with some of the women at the camps. Vincent wanted no part of that and stayed in the RV which was used as a medical station.
Some of the soldiers began to pick on Vincent for not participating in their "fun". Vincent began to show that he was no pushover as he fought a soldier and almost killed him but it was stopped. Mason saw this as entertainment and he killed the soldier who lost by stabbing him in the heart. Mason gave a nod to the soldiers who let go of Vincent and Mason told him that he had earned his way in. About a month after Vincent began to slack in on inventory and Lynch had some of the soldiers beat him and snap his right wrist as punishment. After that Vincent tried his best and kept checking up on inventory.
The final straw was when Vincent let go of a few captive prisoners. These prisoners were used as either play things or simply entertainment by either having them fight other prisoners or having them tied up and being a punching bag. When Lynch heard what Vincent did he beat him nearly to death. Vincent got one or two lucky shots in but in the end Lynch was far stronger as he put him in a choke hold and had him tied up to a tree to be Lynch's punching bag. He forced Vincent to watch as they raped a girl in front of him and he struggled desperately to get free but he couldn't, he cried to the woman saying sorry over and over again. Lynch took out his knife and cut the woman's throat before walking towards Vincent. He beat him so badly to the point where he was nearly unconscious and to the point where he was speaking gibberish.
While the other soldier cheered Lynch on to kill Vincent he just shook his head and smirked at the beaten man. He said he would give him a second chance let him live what life he had left in pain as a weak, pathetic, sack of shit. Mason and the soldiers packed up their stuff and left Vincent tied to the tree. Before they left a young soldier named Max went to go to the bathroom after he was done he handed Vincent a razor blade. Soon after Mason and the other soldiers left Vincent cut himself free with the razor blade and he put the woman down with a rock to the head as he bashed her head in so she wouldn't come back. He then vowed to avenge the woman that they killed and from the tortured he had suffered. He tracked them back to their camp and he murdered them one by one in their sleep as he took a trench knife that was left near a fire camp. He left Max alive but when he confronted Lynch he woke him up with a rock to the face and soon he beat him to death screaming as he letting out all the pain and anger inside of him. After he killed Lynch he then traveled with Max for a bit.
After nearly two months of being on the road he made it back to California. He went back home to see if his wife or daughter were alive. But sadly he found that his wife had turned and he put her down. He slowly walked over to his daughter's room and opened it to find her turned as well with a bite on her arm. He couldn't bring himself to put her down so Max did it for him. After that the duo traveled for a bit until they ended up in Whitefish, Montana where they found a community thriving at a boarding school. The group called themselves the "Renegades" and he was impressed by how fortified the community was. He learned from the leader named Sarah that they were trading with other communities as well.
For the next two years Vincent lived in a boarding school with these kind yet harden survivors. He could see they treat each other like family and that slowly brought Vincent out of his dark mood. He went on runs with the group and traded with the other communities. Everything seemed peaceful almost to peaceful. It was then that he almost got killed on a supply run. The store they were checking was laced with traps and Vincent got trapped in a room with about five of them. The lights were out and he was just shooting off round after round. He barely got out and as he saw his life flash in front of him he remembered Mai and Hope.
He decided after that run to take it easy but soon the boarding school got over run with the dead and Vincent grabbed his things and left trying his best to save people. He saved Max and a few others they hopped into Vincent's 1986 Dodge Power Ram they had had gotten on a run and they left. Soon he dropped Max and the others off at one of the communities willing to take them in but instead of staying put he decided this was his chance to do what he could to help people out on the road. Before leaving the community where he dropped off Max and the others he did some trading. He got some guns and some decent medicine. Max also gave him a dog although he got it for free since the dog was injured in the left eye. Soon he was on the road with Rosco and Vincent helped a few people here and there along the way. He then ended up in North Fork, Long Island, New York.
