Well, there they were. Sara's home sweet home. And in their way, one hell of a broken down bridge, just like Sara said there'd be. Ziggy sat on top of Abamo, which she had come to calling the jeep, having fallen in love with the machine on the drive to Bar Harbor. Abamo was short for Apocalyptic Badass Mobile, and she had come up with it while on the road.
But even though Abamo could conquer mostly all terrain, the ocean wasn't one of them. Taking it to the island was out of the question. Getting to the island was the next challenge and even though they were close to the ocean, there didn't appear to be an abundance of boats around.
Ziggy looked through the scope of her rifle to the other side of the shore where they stood. Other than the waves of the ocean, she couldn't see any other movement. From what Sara had told them, the island had already been dead free from the beginning which explained why the bridge was blown. Ziggy hoped the 'civil war' that had divided the islanders hadn't erupted and they all killed eachother, occupying the island with the dead once more. Or with luck, the rebels had taken over and they might get a hearty welcome. The opposite could be true as well, and they'd walk into a fascist regime with the possibility of not being able to leave again.
But it was a moot point for now. They had to figure out a way to get across the body of water that was in front of them. Ziggy put her rifle down, putting it on her back before jumping down from the car's roof.
"Like you said Sara, the bridge is blown." Ziggy said. "Other than the water I can't see anything else moving on the opposite shore."
Ziggy looked around. There seemed to be an abundance of pine trees around. With some work they'd might be able to build a raft to get across, but she was worried about the current. Which is also the reason she didn't quite fancy swimming across either, other than getting her clothes wet. It was still summer, but the Atlantic was probably colder than it looked from the shore.
"I don't quite fancy swimming across unless we really have to." Ziggy said. "There's plenty of pinetrees around, maybe we can build a raft?"
Ziggy jumped backwards onto the hood of the car, smacking her butt into it as she came down on it. A thump could be heard but Ziggy just knew she hadn't gotten any fatter.
"On a positive note, this sea breeze is amazing!" Ziggy continued. Always staying positive, that's who she was. She'd knew they'd get across somehow, it was just a question about how. She then waited for Ayita and Sara to give their input for the situation.
