Outside CC Military Surplus, Saint Paul, Minnesota
The roads weren't exactly full, but like most cities in the United States there were vehicles abandoned by the wayside in various states of disrepair though a disconcerting number in decent condition. Whether it was a lack of gas or some other malfunction that had led to this decision was something that bothered Alexandra. The dead were a frightening enough concept to process, but what man could do to himself in times like this was what truly got to her. She thought she'd seen the worst of that, now she knew that she was so incredibly wrong about that.
Justin was driving them in. Not fast enough to make maneuvering hard, and not slow enough to make them the biggest target. Alexandra wished they had time to make some modifications to this old camper, but she had an inkling that it would give up on them at last if the careful balance that was its current state was upset in any manner. Standing by the front of the camper, Alexandra had her OTs-14 in her hands, watching for any sign of trouble. Yes, to fire meant that if she didn't have a good enough angle out the door she'd have to blow out the glass, but the alternative was to be shot at without returning fire.
She took another breath they reached closer and closer to their objective, a CC Military Surplus store that was just up ahead. Milsurp stores tended to have a healthy selection of survival gear; food that wasn't going to go bad anytime soon, necessities for living in a rapidly deteriorating society and clothes that would last. She wouldn't say no to anything else that caught her fancy either. She turned her head to glance over at games store, a sign outside for Dragon Age: Inquisition catching her attention. To think she had some catch up gaming to do once her vacation came up.
As they turned into the parking lot, Alexandra took a deep breath, "So far, so good." She hated that saying, it meant nothing really, but at this point she couldn't quite think of something else to say. She could somewhat see into the store, so far nothing to indicate that they weren't going to be the only ones. As the camper came to a stop, she turned to those behind her. "Who wants to join me?" she asked, opening the door and leaning out with her rifle to see if there was anything she'd missed. Satisfied, she stepped out before glancing back into the camper.
