After putting fire on the wall for a while, Mal and Claudia were able to led up as the assault force started pouring in and Big Dick's people were abandoning the towers and were drawing back. Mal and Claudia then went back downstairs only for the smell of gunpowder to greet them in the hallway, and Troy and Mikayla lingering over a corpse. It didn't take a genius to figure out what had happened here.
"Whatever happened here, looks like you took care of it." Mal said. "Yuck though."
"Hell of a gun you gave me." Mikayla answered. "Think I'll hang on to it."
Passing the corpse, Mal noticed the distinctly large hole in its side and its head missing. Given the clothing style Mal figured it had been a man but Mikayla had done her best to obscure his features. Helping Troy drag the body outside, Mal noticed Jake on the street.
"Jake, over here!" Mal called. "In here!"
"Mal!" Jake responded, then ran over. "Mal, you're okay thank God! Did you get Marlene and Chloe?"
"They're safe. Mom's getting a triage zone up in the cafeteria, get the wounded in there! Where's Cassie?"
"Haven't seen her yet!"
Mikayla stepped forward, she could help in the school. With that shotgun she wouldn't be able to do much good in the streets anyway.
"I'll stay here and help." Mikayla said. "You guys should go!"
"You sure?" Mal asked.
"I got this!" Mikayla answered. "Send the wounded back here, I'll make sure they get inside!"
Mikayla gave Mal a reassuring nod. "Go!" she spoke. "Go help them take the town!" Mal, Claudia and Jake then were off. Whether or not Troy would join them remained to be seen. Jake threw Mal a radio and before long a troubling message came through.
"We're bogged down at the shopping boulevard!" The radio spoke. "They've got a machine gun! We can't move!"
Mal could hear it from afar; it sounded like a .50 cal and once they reached a sidestreet of the boulevard they could see their people ducking in cover as heavy bullets flew over their heads.
Taking a quick peek around the corner, Mal saw where it came from and wondered about their options, but it seemed like this would be more of a job for Cam's crew. Grabbing her radio, Mal figured it was time to give them a call and see what they were up to.
"Cam! It's Mal!" Mal called. "Are you in position!? Got a .50 cal on the shopping boulevard, need your team to take it out! Cam! Come in!"
Seemed all they could do now was wait for either Ziggy or Sarah to snipe the bastard that was manning it. Preferably before the other bastards could advance on them under the cover of the .50 cal.
